A single medicine, also called prostaglandin E1. Caverject is an alprostadil injection product. Its official instructions require supervised initiation and training before home use.
Bimix
The name usually describes these two medicines together. It does not tell you their concentrations. Bimix should not be substituted for another injection using the same syringe amount.
Trimix
Trimix usually adds alprostadil to the two-drug combination. The formula and handling requirements must come from the prescriber and dispensing pharmacy, not from the name alone.

The route changes the experience
“Injection” describes how a medicine is delivered. It should not be used as a catch-all for every ED treatment that is not a tablet.

ED tablets
Oral medicines use a different route and have their own instructions and interaction considerations. A disappointing result does not make any injection automatically appropriate.
Urethral medicine and hormone treatment
A medicine placed in the urethra is not a penile injection. Testosterone treatment addresses a different clinical issue when low testosterone is present; it is not interchangeable with a locally acting erection medicine.

What is an erectile dysfunction medication injection?+
It is medicine delivered into the erectile tissue of the penis to help produce an erection. This differs from a tablet, a medicine placed in the urethra, or a hormone injection. The name, route and prescribed formulation all matter; “injection” alone does not identify the treatment.
Is penile injection medication the same as injectable Viagra?+
No. Viagra is a sildenafil tablet brand. Alprostadil and commonly used compounded penile injections contain different medicines. Calling an injection “Viagra” can obscure its actual ingredients. Ask for the medicine’s written name rather than relying on a familiar brand used as shorthand.
Which erectile dysfunction injection medication works best?+
There is no universal winner. Response, discomfort, medical history and the ability to use the treatment correctly affect the choice. A supervised trial and follow-up are more informative than a claim that one mixture is strongest. The ingredient explorer explains names; it does not recommend a formulation.
Can penile injections help when tablets have disappointed?+
Yes, they can be an option after an inadequate response to oral treatment. That does not guarantee success for everyone. A clinician should first establish what happened with the earlier treatment and whether injection therapy is suitable, rather than treating an unsatisfactory tablet experience as a reason to self-inject.
Will an injection automatically create sexual desire?+
An erection response and sexual desire are different things. These medicines act on penile blood flow; they are not a promise of desire, orgasm or a particular sexual experience. If your main concern is low desire, describe that explicitly so the consultation addresses the problem you actually have.
Do erectile dysfunction medications given by injection hurt?+
Discomfort varies. Some men report only brief discomfort, while a medicine containing alprostadil can cause an ache. Persistent pain, a new lump or curvature deserves medical assessment. Tell the prescribing team what you experience instead of switching mixtures or changing the amount yourself.
Does injection medication need special storage?+
It may. Requirements differ between products and compounded preparations. Obtain written instructions for the exact dispensed medicine, including refrigeration where needed, its use-by limit and travel arrangements. A convenient storage claim for another product should not be applied to your supply.
Can I take an ED tablet alongside a penile injection?+
Do not combine them on your own. The prescribing team needs to know about every ED medicine you use, including daily treatment. Ask for an explicit plan. If an erection lasts four hours, seek emergency medical care; do not wait for it to become painful.
